Lexus RX Made in Canada

This isn’t a political blog, by any stretch of the imagination, but we do understand why one might be inclined to purchase a Canadian-made product at this point in time. For reasons we won’t get into, buying a vehicle that was made in Canada is top of the priority list for many shoppers.

As a division of the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC), Lexus offers two very popular Canadian-made vehicles, the RX 350 and RX 450h.

The RXs are products of the North American Lexus Plant located at the TMMC’s South Plant in Cambridge (there’s also a North Plant that produces the Toyota Corolla). It’s one of five Lexus manufacturing facilities around the world and one of two in North America.

In 2017, TMMC built 571,535 vehicles for Toyota and Lexus in their Cambridge and Woodstock plants, more than any other Canadian automotive manufacturer. And the Japanese brand has been building on Canadian soil since 1988, in fact, claiming the production of over seven million vehicles throughout the years. Today, some 8,000 Canadians are employed at the three TMMC plant locations.

The RX, which has been produced in Ontario since 2003, continues to enjoy a healthy demand in Canada as well as south of the border. Within the last decade, over 77,000 RXs have been sold in Canada.

So, driving a Lexus can be a great way to support the current made-in-Canada movement. At the very least it’s a great reason to come test drive a new RX.
